The East Africa Clean Expo 2023 kicked off on a high note with a focus on innovations, sustainability, and standards in the cleaning industry. The expo, held at the Sarit Expo Centre, brought together industry experts, manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the cleaning sector from across East Africa.
The first day of the expo started with a series of keynote speeches from prominent figures in the cleaning industry. Antipas Nyambok, Operations Manager at Nairobi Hospital and Chairman of the Heads of Housekeepers Association of Kenya, delivered a keynote address on the role of housekeepers in upholding cleaning standards.
Pietro Farinelli, CEO of Rimpar, spoke about innovative approaches to sustainable practices in the cleaning sector. He emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable practices that would not only benefit the environment but also the industry’s bottom line.
The panel discussion that followed was moderated by Robert Yawe, CEO of QuadrantShift Africa, with panelists from HHPA Kenya, Rimpar, Al-Habib Cosmetics, and Avana Laundromat. They discussed ways to elevate the standards of the cleaning business and how to ensure sustainability in the industry.
After the Health Break, Irangi Mukwana, Head of Housekeeping at MP Shah Hospital, gave a spotlight speech on avoiding infections through proper laundry practices. He stressed the importance of following proper laundry practices to avoid the spread of infections.
The next spotlight speaker, Esther Ngari, Director of Standards and Trade at KEBS, spoke about the role of certification in the cleaning industry. She emphasized the importance of having industry standards and the need for certification to ensure that the standards are being met.
The second panel discussion was moderated by Humphrey Odhiambo, CEO of C-Suite Africa, with panelists from HHPA Kenya, Newmatic Holdings Africa, Nairobi Hospital, and Tradehouse Africa Limited. They discussed innovative business models and strategies for cleaning sector growth, including how to adapt to changes in the industry and how to leverage technology to improve operations.
The day ended with a keynote speech from the Kenya Bureau of Standards on developing and implementing cleaning industry standards.
Overall, Day 1 of the East Africa Clean Expo 2023 was a success, with industry experts sharing their knowledge and experience on a wide range of topics. The expo continues for two more days, with more keynote speeches, panel discussions, and spotlight speeches on the agenda.
